In Piqua, Troy and Dayton, trail is not always marked. You know you're on A trail, but not WHICH trail, or, on on-road sections, it is not clear where the trail goes. In addition, trail surface is quite rough for lengthy distances. Not recommended.
Rode the Roberts Pass trail in both directions and found it to be a great trail. The tree cover shields from headwinds and midday sun.
Very beautiful trail with alot of trees and a river. Loved the old stone tunnel and old barn. Very nastalgic looking.Well maintained. Appreciate the crew out clearing limbs and debris off trail, when we were out riding. Thanks
We ( recumbent trike & e-bike) headed West from the Kiwanis park. Turned around after 9km as the surface was really tough on the trike. There’s 2 good wheel tracks for bikes, but the trike had to ride partially in the coarse trail ballast. Scenic area with farm views and a huge windmill farm in the distance.
First time riding this trail after the connection to the Newell Preserve was completed. Ride spanned Mt Vernon to almost Westerville and back and it is far more enjoyable with less time on roads and more on the trail. Let's get the rest of the OTET finished too!
A good trail to use for accessing Xenia, the hub of Ohio's bike trails. Especially if you live south or east of the trail. Day-parking in Octa is allgood, but you need permission from the Village of Octa to park overnite. Have bikecamped from Octa to Yellow Springs and Octa to Dayton Metro Parks from Octa. There is a new State campground TRAILSIDE on the Jamestown connector
Ride here several times a year, often the whole trail round trip. Pros: Ride thru a National Park, downtown Chillicothe is a bike friendly area with lots to see eat n drink, trail is in as good of shape as most ohio trails, with a short 20 mile road ride one can take the Jamestown Connector into Xenia the hub of Ohio's bike trail system, maybe the best thing is this trail crowded at all except a few folks in Chillicothe. Cons: trail is in as bad of shape as most Ohio trails,
This could be a great trail. We went north to Fredericksburg from Millersburg. The trail was smooth for the first 5 miles, then got rough. It is shared with horses and had droppings on both sides. There is no restrooms north of Millersburg.
In my opinion, this might weep be one of the top 10, if not top 5 trails in Ohio. Beautiful river crossings, rolling hills and a great mix of shade and sun. Watering and bike maintenance stations await you in Danville, Howard, Gambier, and Mt. Vernon. In addition, the trail itself is very well maintained. Happy trails!
Hello, we finished our lovely ride July 7 and returned to our car parked in Corwin. As my husband took off his glove, his wedding band came off as well and flew somewhere. It is gold with an inscription. We searched for a few hours as well as a few residents of Corwin and other bikers as they saw us searching. We returned today with a metal detector. I think it must have attached itself to a car. Please let me know if found
