Springlawn Trail Reviews

Great family trail

Well shaded, easy terrain. Our family loves hiking halfway down the trail to a little “beach” along the creek where the kids and dog can jump in and swim.

beautiful easy walk by the creek

My dog enjoyed it. Lots of shade. Perfect for a sunny hot day

Nice walk close to creek. Shade is nice for hot days. Terrain is slightly challenging.

Scenic but rough

Hard to believe that this was a road, the trail has many large stones, might be okay for mountain bikes. On the plus side the scenery is wonderful. We rode this trail in mid to late September and the leaves that had already fallen made seeing the rocks difficult.

Snow covered

Walked it today. Snow covered, however still walkable. Will do again in the spring. Good trail, easy inclines, river to see, and some ruins.

If you find, an orange colored Cabela's shirt, it's mine, and I'd like it back. It fell out of my cheap backpack.

Short but bucolic

Walked the trail this past weekend with my daughter in her special needs Wike stroller and with her puppy and in the occasional snow squall at dusk (see pix). And I biked it today. Very quiet and shaded trail through the woods, bordering farmer's fields and sometimes the Big Elk Creek Creek, passing some ruins of of stone houses. There is space for a couple of cars to park right at the trailhead at the north end, but at the south end, there is only a muddy pull off maybe for one car 50 yards up the road. And if you have a large stroller be prepared to lift it over the gate. For biking, you can create a nice loop by turning east on Strickersville Rd at the south end, and then turning left onto Mount Olivet rd, which is closed to car traffic for now. Then you make your way back to the north trailhead via Walker and Peacedale roads and then Rt. 841 - 6 miles total.
