The trail is very conveniently close to the Hilton Garden Inn I was staying at.
The first mile is ok, starts around mile marker 11.2. Turned right. The trail is cement and in good condition.
The surroundings get better as you progress (counting down).
Once you get to MM 10, you are in an open field area, alongside a meandering creek.
I really enjoyed the portion past MM 9 all the way to MM 7.6 The trail transitions back and forth from cement to crushed stone.
The stone parts are good, but a little precarious in a couple spots.
Several small bridges that pass over the creek(s) are nice and in good condition.
The part that passes behind the football fields is cool.
I plan to revisit and park at the lot near MM 8 and adventure further down the trail.
Very nice trail that I rode a few miles on after connecting from the Line Creek Trail. I like the trail but the highway roar was too annoying for me. I did not complete it because of this. Great trail but too noisy. Traveling cyclist Facebook
I turned off Line Creek Trail to check this trail out. It’s great for the locals to access the Line Creek Trail. It is very short but 5 stars from me. Traveling cyclist Facebook
I was traveling in the area and needed to kill a little time and found the Prairie Spirit Trail. I parked in Ottawa and rode south a few miles. I normally don’t ride gravel but this was superb. I turned around and rode back north on the paved trail in town to the end. I was not able to enjoy the entire trail but I will return here now that I’ve discovered it. I give this one five stars! I biked the streets of KC which are all under construction. I did 21.5 miles. Never really found the trail & I looked. If you stay in town you can bike from a hotel.
I rode an electric bike with 4" tires on three separate rides. All of them were about 10 miles out and back (in 2 days):
Council Grove heading East,
Allen heading West, and
Ottawa heading East.
I drove from Texas to ride them and they did not disappoint! I came for the solitude and the scenery. The western end was reminiscent of scenes from Dances With Wolves. The eastern end was more wooded and shaded. I hope to return to ride other parts too.
Extra wide sidewalk for bikes too. Not very smooth but leads to I-Alan park and path connecting to TC trail.
Detours from 69 construction make this confusing to get to where you want to go. Hopefully when the construction is done it will be easier. Need some better Detour signs. Nice ride thru the trees.
Great trail for inline speed skating or just regular inline skating. It wasn't crowded, and the people that I passed responded well to my bike bell (also, slow down and be polite as you pass ¿)
Little Blue Trace Trail is closed between Bunch Road Parking and Fisher Road 2 1/2 miles north of the Fisher entrance because of bridge damage.
Gravel rode this to connect to rock island trail. Nice option to stay off the roads when traveling from Arrowhead stadium to Windsor.
