New Trail Reviews

Well maintained and cool on hot days. Watch for signs to see the covered bridge and stream just off the trail. Plant off stopping points along the trail with picnic tables and benches. We ride this trail 2 to 3 times a week.

Beautiful scenery and wildlife and so well maintained! Friendly people all along the way. Excellent trailheads with water, bike tools, air! I only saw one review commenting on the hills. There really is no flat according to our elevation record on Strava. It is either a looooong uphill or a loooong downhill. Even though the hills are only 4% grade, 10 miles of that gets old. My husband and I are 64 & 62, no e-bikes, thank you and riding loaded. We ride 40 miles twice a week up and down hills usually with a headwind, but the ride from Custer to Deadwood was pretty taxing for us. We would do it again but probably do the whole trail and take 3 days. trip from

Very nice ride - quiet and scenic. No issues with it overgrown in other reviews My wife and I really enjoyed it- 1 hour ride end to end

It was nice seen some wildlife ate few bugs! Overall I wouldn’t come back it’s too short for me! But good for title kids with parents!!

That is Red Cut, not Red Rut. My husband says the best part of the trail is Red Cut. If you stand there long enough you can almost hear the trains coming. Make sure you read the plaque there.

We started at the Forestville Dam County Park and rode north to Sturgeon Bay. After a nice lunch we headed back to the park. Overall a 26 mile RT. The trail is in good shape with gravel and stone dust most of the way. Once near Sturgeon the trail follows roadside for 2-3 miles.

Rode this trail today on our Giant Momentum E bikes. Started at beginning of trail in Everett, ended at Red Rut where the trail ends. 24 mile round trip. Trail was mostly fine gravel with grass in the middle. Some places gravel was slightly thick, but was not a problem for us at all. Goes through two towns towards the end section. Signs are easy to follow there. Follows along the Juanita river. However there is about a 2 mile or so section that is stone road. Would ride again if in the area.

Only 2 miles is paved.

We are on week 2 of a 2-week Northeast rail trail tour and we’re experienced cyclists. I should have believed the Trailguide when it warned that this one wasn’t well-suited for hybrid bikes. We only made it 6 miles out of Livermore Falls before turning around. There were only a few stretches of packed sand. The rest was loose sand or chunky rock. For reference, we were riding an Allied Alpha and a Cannondale Supersix Evo SE. Would have been a blast on a fatty.

Parking is actually at 1779 East Pamplin Road. Portapotty here. Adjacent / between rr and business 460

Excellent trail. Unobstructed and scenic with all types of turns and bridges. Got an easy 10 here and could have went further. Love the mixed crowd; kids, bikers, runners and dogs. Super exciting to see so many people into fitness and outdoors.

I used to ride this trail back in 1996 and have returned to cycling at 70! On my new cf Trek FX4 this is a great ride. Next time, I’ll spend some time in Lake Orion and maybe get lunch at one of the bar/restaurants in Rochester!

We had a beautiful day riding this trail! There were a lot of people, however, that's to be expected on a wonderful Sunday afternoon. The only downside was that we were stopped and given a warning, with my name taken and entered into the officers computer, by a County Sherif officer that e-bikes are prohibited in all Bergen County parks. Unfortunately we won't be back to this trail again.

Nice trail with more than 4 miles if you include gravel/dirt surface trails that wind through some pretty woods. Can be busy on the weekends especially on the paved portion of the trail.

Truly loved this trail we went on a Sunday September, we had our electric bikes it was so much fun. Coming back for sure!
